Tonight's Movies: MARIAH: A BOXER'S DREAM and THE LITAS Both Directed by: Nina Meredith
Nina Meredith is an international, award-winning film director. Her work has received accolades from numerous festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival, Cannes Lions, Webbys, Clios, Andys, D&AD, One Show, Tellys and inducted into SHOOT’S 2018 New Director Showcase. Meredith was one of two female directors to direct a National 2021 Super Bowl commercial. She has directed films in over 30 countries for many of the world’s largest brands including Nike, Vogue, Ford, Porsche, Facebook, Levi's, Adidas, BVLGARI and New Balance, among others.
Her acclaimed short, “The Margaret Lambert Story,” was accepted into more than 15 festivals worldwide, receiving honors including the “Life Celebration” award at Cleveland International Film Festival and best short film at Flickers’ Rhode Island Film Festival and Washington Jewish Film Festival. Meredith’s film, “The Litas,” exploring the world of an all-female motorcycle collective in Rome, premiered on the opening night at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film portrays boundary-defying Italian women in pursuit of professions and passions traditionally held by men. Meredith’s series for The Olympic Channel “IDENTIFY,” profiles five transgender athletes and their inspiring journeys, aired on NBC and won a WEBBY for Film and Television. Her recent documentary “Mariah:
A Boxer’s Dream” won two Webby awards including the audience award and has screened in over 15 film festivals worldwide. The film follows teenage Native-American boxer and six-time national champion Mariah Bahe, as she embarks on her quest for Olympic gold.
Known for her unfiltered cinematic portraits, her films act as dynamic displays of color and intimacy, peeling away layers and revealing the hearts of her subjects.Born and raised in New Jersey, Meredith has always been creative and curious about the world around her. Her competitive spirit and passion for the arts took form in both athletic and artistic pursuit. She competed at the D1 collegiate level in Track & Field while earning a fine art scholarship.
She credits her formal education as a fine artist combined with her deep love for magic in helping define her craft.
